Exciting Things Happening in the World of Research

I am so sorry for the long delay in updates. Things have been busy, busy around the Foundation front, and our home front! We, of course, went through the holidays, and then my work had a busy week called ZION, which is a week of revival-type services, then the weeks after were busy, because people wanted to purchase the recordings of ZION. After that, my daughter and I went to Minneapolis, MN, to attend the memorial service of Dr. William Krivit - an incredible brilliant man, who was a pioneer in the transplant process for MLD, and other leukodystrophies. We returned home, I sent out tax receipts, and then my daughter wound up in the hospital for 11 days. So if you didn't get a receipt for a contribution you made to The Stennis Foundation, please let me know, and I'll get you one ASAP. There is a possiblility that I missed you. We are home from the hospital now, and doing better. Thank God.

We have some research opportunities we'd love to support. One is at UMass, another is at Duke. We currently support research at Duke - The Ross Joiner Fellowship for the Study of Lysosomal Disorders in Children. The same doctor (fellow) who is conducting this research, Dr. Donald Beam, along with Dr. Joanne Kurtzberg, has harvested, isolated and grown a particular type of cell known as an oligodendrocyte from umbilical cord blood. This is awesome....this type of cell has the potential to STOP MLD once it is infused into the body. And there is great possibility, that it can repair the damage that has already happened from MLD! Is that not amazing?!? With this type of research, it could bring an end to MLD, and it could help MLD cases like Sam Stennis, Anthony Tomaino, Lucas Viscomi, Tucker Wells, Emma McGregor, Max Trimper, John and Christopher Evanosky, and others....the list goes on and on....and this would make such a difference in so many lives! Please consider joining with The Stennis Foundation in supporting this research!

Have a great week, and please keep all the leukodystrophy families in your prayers. One day, we'll beat this....of that I'm confident.

We're One Step Closer to a Cure!
